After checking off my 20th Hyatt brand at Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown, I earned my 4th Brand Explorer Free Night Award and 1,500 bonus World of Hyatt points—all from a stay I booked entirely with points.
If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you already know I’m a World of Hyatt girl. Whether I’m traveling to Japan, Bali, Cartagena, Thailand, or somewhere closer to home, Hyatt is usually the first hotel program I check when planning a trip. Between the valuable award redemptions, elite benefits, and diverse portfolio of properties, Hyatt continues to be my favorite hotel loyalty program.
So when I attended the Women in Travel Summit (WITS) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I decided to stay at the newly opened Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown instead of the conference host hotel. Not only was it the only Hyatt option in downtown Chattanooga, but it also became my 20th Hyatt brand, earning me another Category 1-4 Free Night Award through Hyatt Brand Explorer. This is also the second Caption hotel in the U.S!

What Is Hyatt Brand Explorer?
One of the most underrated benefits in the World of Hyatt program is Brand Explorer, aka Hyatt Bingo.
Instead of rewarding members solely for how many nights they stay, Hyatt also rewards members for experiencing different brands within its portfolio. For every five unique Hyatt brands you stay at, Hyatt awards a Category 1-4 Free Night Certificate.

There is no registration required or expiration date. As long as you attach your World of Hyatt number to your stay, you will check off each brand. Even better, qualifying paid stays, award stays booked with points, and eligible Free Night Award stays can all count toward Brand Explorer progress.
As of 2026, Hyatt has expanded its portfolio to 38 brands, including newer additions such as Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Studios, Secrets, Dreams, Breathless, Impression by Secrets, and more.

That means members can now earn up to seven Category 1-4 Free Night Awards through Hyatt Brand Explorer.
My Journey to 20 Hyatt Brands
Reaching 20 Hyatt brands was something I did both organically and very strategically. Hyatt is usually my first choice whenever I’m planning travel.
One of the first things I check when researching a destination is whether there is a Hyatt property nearby. While Hyatt’s footprint is smaller than Marriott’s or Hilton’s, I find the value I receive from the program often outweighs the smaller selection.
Another strategy that has helped me build my brand portfolio is hotel hopping. For example, when visiting destinations like Japan, many travelers split their trip between Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. Hyatt has multiple brands across those cities, making it easy to experience different hotels while also progressing toward Brand Explorer milestones.
The first five brands are honestly the easiest. You can quickly knock those out with brands like Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, HYATT, and Hyatt Centric, for example. Then it starts to feel a little like bingo. The more brands you’ve completed, the harder it becomes to find new ones. Fortunately, Hyatt continues expanding its portfolio, creating even more opportunities to earn additional Free Night Awards.
Some of my favorite Hyatt brands I’ve stayed at include:
- Alila
- Andaz
- Park Hyatt
- Impressions
- Grand Hyatt
And now, Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown officially checks off brand number 20.
Hyatt’s New Hotel Bonus Promotion
Another Hyatt perk many travelers overlook is its New Hotel Bonus promotion.
When Hyatt opens a new property, it often offers bonus points for eligible stays completed during the hotel’s launch period. No registration is required.

Because Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown recently opened, Hyatt was offering an additional 500 bonus points per night for stays completed between March 31 and June 30.

My three-night stay earned an extra 1,500 World of Hyatt points on top of the Free Night Award I received for completing my 20th Hyatt brand.

Not bad for a stay booked entirely with points.
Why Hyatt Brand Explorer Is More Valuable Than Ever
One reason I love Brand Explorer is that these certificates have become even more valuable over time. When I first started earning Brand Explorer awards, Category 4 hotels topped out at 18,000 points per night under Hyatt’s previous award chart.
However, just last month, Hyatt introduced a new award chart structure, replacing the traditional Off-Peak, Standard, and Peak pricing model with five pricing levels: Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, and Top.
World of Hyatt Devaluation 2026: Award Chart Changes Could Increase Stays by Up to 67%
Today, Category 4 hotels range from 12,000 to 25,000 points per night. That means a Category 1-4 Free Night Award earned through Brand Explorer can potentially cover a hotel night costing up to 25,000 points.
While some former sweet spots have moved into higher categories, there are still plenty of excellent Category 4 hotels where these certificates can easily save hundreds of dollars.
I’ve personally redeemed Brand Explorer Free Night Awards at properties including Grand Hyatt Dubai, Thompson Chicago, and Hyatt Regency Thailand before it moved above Category 4. Depending on your travel dates, a single certificate can easily provide $300 to $500 or more in value.
Final Thoughts
What started as a weekend trip to Chattanooga for an amazing travel conference with Women In Travel, became another Hyatt milestone.
My stay at Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown marked my 20th Hyatt brand stay, earned me another Category 1-4 Free Night Award, added 1,500 bonus Hyatt points through Hyatt’s New Hotel Bonus promotion, and reminded me why Hyatt remains my favorite hotel loyalty program.
Between valuable award redemptions, meaningful elite benefits, and hidden gems like Brand Explorer, Hyatt continues to reward travelers who are willing to be a little strategic.
Now that I’ve officially checked off my 20th Hyatt brand, I’m already looking forward to seeing what brand number 21 will be.
