If you already hold one of our favorite premier travel cards, you’re likely aware of the many ways the $695 annual fee is offset with valuable credits. With over $1,400 in annual statement credits already included, the card just became even more rewarding with the addition of a $200 Hilton Honors incidental credit—split into $50 per quarter.
What makes this new credit even more interesting? Like the similar credit offered on the Hilton co-branded business card, Hilton gift cardpurchases currently trigger the credit.
Getting the Hilton Credit
To use this benefit, you must enroll in the credit through your account portal. It’s a quick and easy process:
- Head to your card’s Rewards & Benefits section to enroll in the credit.
- You’ll also need to set up a Hilton for Business membership account, which is free to join.
For me, it was seamless. Through the app, I registered with just a click—it simultaneously set up my Hilton for Business account and confirmed enrollment for the credit. I even received an email confirmation immediately.
BE the Data Point:Â How I Used the Credit
I still needed to trigger the credit for the quarter on my Hilton co-branded business card. To maximize this new credit, I purchased an additional $50 Hilton gift card on December 13th, the day after this benefit was announced. By December 15th, I received an email confirming I had successfully triggered the credit. And today, December 16th, I can see the $50 statement credit on my account. It works—and quickly!
These gift cards can be used for incidental expenses like spa treatments, dining, or other eligible charges at Hilton properties.
Pro Tip: Always confirm ahead of time that the property accepts physical gift cards, as this can sometimes be tricky. I plan to use these gift cards at a spa within a Waldorf Astoria or LXR property.
Your Turn: How Will You Use It?
The new Hilton Honors incidental credit enhances the value of this powerful travel card. However, I am concerned that upcoming changes next year might result in the loss of other credits, although the issuer has not confirmed anything yet.
Whether you use the credits for dining, spas, or other Hilton experiences, the quarterly $50 credits can be quite beneficial.
