How to Stack Points and Miles for Airbnb and Vrbo Stays

For my new members, you may hear me talk about stacking points and offers frequently. As travel hackers, we are always looking for ways to maximize our points and benefits. While hotel loyalty programs offer great perks, alternative lodging options like Airbnb and Vrbo have become increasingly popular. Did you know that you can still earn valuable rewards when booking these accommodations?

In this post, we will explore how you can stack points for Airbnb stays through partnerships with Delta, British Airways Executive Club, Qantas, and ANA Mileage Club. Additionally, we’ll cover how you can earn rewards for Vrbo bookings through its partnership with United Airlines.

Earning Points with Airbnb:

Airbnb has partnered with several airlines, allowing travelers to earn reward points when booking accommodations. You can earn miles by using the respective links with your airline rewards programs. Their current partnerships are:

  • Delta SkyMiles: Earn 1 mile for every $1 spent on Airbnb accommodation and experiences.
  • British Airways Executive Club: Earn 2 Avios per $1 spent on Airbnb accommodations and experiences. (Reduced from 3 avios per $1)
  • ANA Mileage Club: Earn 1 mile for every 200 yen spent on Airbnb accommodation. First-time Airbnb users also get a special promotion!
  • Qantas: Earn 1 Qantas Point++ per A$1 spent on your Airbnb booking. First-Time Airbnb users earn an additional 500 bonus points on their first booking as well.

That’s not all. I usually purchase Airbnb gift cards with my Chase Ink Cash from Office Supply stores for an additional 5x back. Alternatively, I use my Wyndham Business Earners card at Gas Stations to pick up the cards there for 8x per $1 on those Gift cards.

So, at a minimum, I’m earning 8x per $1 on my Airbnb stays by using my CIC and the BA link, and 11x per dollar if I opt for using my Wyndham card to purchase gift cards.

Maximizing Rewards with Vrbo:

Similarly, Vrbo has teamed up with United Airlines to offer rewards for travelers. By booking through the United Partner website, you can earn 3 United Miles per dollar on your vacation rentals with VRBO.

Tips for Maximizing Points:

To stack these bookings, you do not need to use a specific credit card. You can use whatever card or gift card earns you the maximum value back. However, VRBO gift cards may be harder to find.

Additionally, always run a quick search on CashBackMonitor to check if there are better offers through various shopping portals to get the maximum return.

Do not miss out on the opportunity to earn valuable rewards when booking accommodations through Airbnb and Vrbo. By leveraging partnerships like these, you can easily earn over 8x per $1 on your next Airbnb or Vrbo stays!
