Qatar Airways Privilege Club is offering a limited-time 30% bonus when you transfer your points from select bank loyalty programs.

These include Citi Bank, which is the most common option for US citizens, and several other banks from different countries such as Ahli United Bank (Bahrain, Kuwait), Ahlibank (Qatar), Bank of Maldives (Maldives), Bank of New Zealand (New Zealand), Banque Saudi Fransi (Saudi Arabia), Chinabank (Philippines), CIMB (Malaysia), Citibank, Commercial Bank (Qatar), and more. You can check the complete list of participating partners in the terms and conditions.

Qatar Bonus Bank Partners

The promotion runs from now until May 31, 2024. If you transfer your Citi ThankYou points (TYPs) to Qatar’s Privilege Club during this period, you will receive a 30% bonus. If you have a Citi Premier or Prestige (not available to new applicants) account, your points will transfer at a 1:1 ratio. This means that for every 1,000 TYPs you transfer, you will receive 1,300 Avios.

I took advantage of a similar promo last fall, and since I hold the Citi Premier and Citi Rewards+ card, which offers 10% redemption rebates up to 10,000 points annually, I was able to double-stack this offer. I transferred 91,000 TYPs to my Privilege Club account and received 9,100 TYPs back into my account, plus 22,750 Avios. In total, I was able to redeem 92,000 Avios for a first-class flight on British Airways to Greece, which would have cost me over $14,000 in cash.

It’s important to note that the transfer of points is not instant. The bonus Avios come from Qatar Privilege Club, and according to the terms and conditions, they should be in your account by June 15, 2024.

Stay tuned for my upcoming post on how to use your Avios and combine them with one world partners such as British Airways and Iberia.
