If you’re a Chase cardholder and regularly use DoorDash, you may be missing out on one of the easiest ways to save money: complimentary DashPass membership. DashPass is DoorDash’s subscription service that offers $0 delivery fees, reduced service fees, and exclusive promotions across food, grocery, and retail orders. But many don’t realize that select Chase credit cards come with DashPass built in—for free.

In this guide, I’ll explain what DashPass is, how it works, which Chase cards include free membership, and how to stack the benefits with additional offers like statement credits and seasonal promos from brands like CVS, Sephora, and Walgreens.

What Is DashPass?

DashPass is DoorDash’s subscription program designed to lower the cost of delivery. It’s ideal for frequent users of DoorDash or anyone looking to take advantage of recurring convenience deliveries and limited-time offers.

Key DashPass Benefits:

  • $0 delivery fees on eligible orders over a set subtotal (typically $12+ for restaurants, $25+ for grocery or retail)
  • Reduced service fees
  • Access to exclusive DashPass-only promotions
  • Coverage at thousands of national and local merchants, including restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies, and retailers like Sephora, CVS, and Walgreens

How Much Does DashPass Normally Cost?

  • $9.99/month, or
  • $96/year when billed annually

However, select Chase credit cardholders get DashPass for free, plus additional DoorDash credits, making the membership even more valuable.

How to Activate Your Complimentary DashPass

  1. Add your eligible Chase card as the default payment method in the DoorDash app or on DoorDash.com.
  2. Tap “Activate DashPass” in the benefits banner or wallet.
  3. Confirm enrollment—the free period starts immediately and renews at standard price unless cancelled. (You can cancel anytime; simply re‑enroll if an offer returns.)

How to Use Your Monthly DoorDash Credit Once DashPass Is Activated

Once you’ve activated DashPass with your eligible Chase credit card, using your monthly (or quarterly) DoorDash credit is simple—but you do need to be intentional at checkout.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Add your eligible Chase card (Sapphire Preferred, Reserve, Ink, etc.) as the default payment method.
  2. Start your DoorDash order with a non-restaurant merchant (like Sephora, CVS, or Walgreens) if your benefit specifies non-food orders.
  3. At checkout, you’ll see an option to apply your monthly DoorDash credit—usually listed as a “Promo” or “DashPass Benefit”.
  4. Select that credit before submitting the order to ensure it applies.
  5. The credit will be deducted automatically from your subtotal, reducing your final out-of-pocket cost.

Important: If your Chase card is not the default payment method, the promo will not appear. Also note that the credit must be used within the month or quarter—it does not roll over.

Is DashPass Worth It If You’re Paying Out of Pocket?

At the regular $9.99 monthly fee, you’d break even after roughly two DashPass food deliveries or one grocery order over $25. With Chase’s complimentary membership and recurring credits, the program becomes an easy net positive—even for light users.

Final Takeaway

Chase’s DoorDash partnership now runs through December 31, 2027, so there’s still plenty of time to activate and enjoy free DashPass. Pair the waived fees with monthly or quarterly credits, seasonal retailer promos, and credit‑card shopping portals to shrink delivery costs and score extra rewards on every order.
