American Express has raised the annual fee on both the personal and business Platinum cards to $895. That’s a $200 increase, making it one of the most expensive business cards on the market.
For new applicants, the $895 fee applies immediately. For existing Business Platinum cardholders, the increase won’t take effect until December 2, 2025. Until then, you’ll continue paying the $695 annual fee while still being able to use the refreshed benefits.
What’s New in the Business Platinum Refresh
American Express has added several new credits to the Business Platinum card, primarily targeting travel and business services.
New Additions
- $600 Hotel Credit – Up to $300 semi-annually on prepaid bookings with Fine Hotels + Resorts® or The Hotel Collection through Amex Travel (two-night minimum required for Hotel Collection).
- $200 Hilton Credit – Up to $50 quarterly for Hilton for Business members (enrollment required; account email must match).
- $250 Adobe Credit – Annual statement credit after $600+ in eligible Adobe purchases.
- Big-Spend Credits – Spend $250,000 annually and unlock $3,600 in additional statement credits the following year, including $1,200 for Amex Travel flights and $2,400 for American Express One AP business payments.
- Leaders Club Sterling Status (LHW) – Complimentary Sterling status at The Leading Hotels of the World. Note: your Amex login email must match your Leaders Club account. If it doesn’t, you may need to create a new account using the same email to activate the benefit.
Revised Credits
- $1,150 Dell Technologies Credit – Formerly $400 annually, now $150 annually plus $1,000 after $5,000+ in spend per calendar year (enrollment required).
- $250 Adobe Credit – Increased from $150; now requiring $600+ in annual Adobe purchases. (2025 benefit year begins July 1, 2025)
Boosted Earning Rates
Amex also enhanced the card’s rewards structure. Cardholders now earn 2X Membership Rewards® points (up from 1.5X) on up to $2 million in purchases per year across:
- Purchases of $5,000 or more
- U.S. cloud service and software providers

My Take: Is the Business Platinum Worth $895?
As a current Business Platinum cardholder, I am disappointed that the personal Platinum card received more benefits, such as dining and lifestyle credits.
American Express Platinum Card Annual Fee Increased to $895, with New Credits Added: Is It Worth It?
The hotel credits are the biggest win for me. I’ve already used the $300 semi-annual Hotel Collection credit on a two-night stay, stacking the $100 property credit, early check-in, late checkout, and potential upgrades. I was also able to link the booking to my World of Hyatt account, which should still let me earn points and enjoy Globalist perks. That ability to “double dip” makes this change worthwhile.
I’ve started using the new Hilton for Business credit too, but losing the flexible Adobe and Dell credits makes the card less appealing in the long term. When the fee increases to $895 in 2026, I’ll reevaluate.
That said, if you maximize everything, you can still unlock over $3,600 in annual statement credits with the Business Platinum. For new applicants, the 200,000-point welcome offer alone adds significant value if you can meet the $20,000 spend requirement.
Overall, the personal Platinum delivers more everyday value with lifestyle credits, while the Business Platinum may make more sense for high-spending companies that can take advantage of the Dell, Hilton, and Amex Travel benefits.
