Each year, American Airlines partners with Stand Up To Cancer® (SU2C) to offer a powerful way to support cancer research while earning valuable AAdvantage® miles. This limited-time campaign is back for 2025 — and if you hold an eligible AAdvantage® Mastercard®, you could earn up to 50 bonus miles per dollar donated.

How the 2025 SU2C Miles Campaign Works

Promotion Dates:

  • Start: August 15, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. PT
  • End: September 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. PT or when total qualifying donations reach $3,000,000 (whichever comes first).

Donation Requirements:

  • Minimum donation: $25
  • Maximum donation eligible for bonus miles: $10,000 per primary cardmember
  • Donations must be made online at the official Stand Up To Cancer AA donation page
  • Donations must be in U.S. dollars

Two Ways to Earn Bonus Miles

  1. Standard Offer (Open to All Donors): Earn 25 AAdvantage® bonus miles per dollar donated on contributions of $25 or more.
  2. Exclusive AAdvantage® Mastercard® Cardmember Offer: Earn 50 AAdvantage® bonus miles per dollar donated on contributions between $25 and $10,000.

You must use an American Airlines AAdvantage® Mastercard® credit card issued in the USA. This higher-mileage offer often sells out early when the $3M donation cap is reached.

Important Details

  • Bonus miles are in addition to the regular miles you may earn from your credit card’s standard spending rewards.
  • Miles are expected to post to your AAdvantage® account by December 19, 2025.
  • Bonus miles do not count toward AAdvantage® elite status qualification.
  • Donations made in connection with this bonus miles program are non-refundable.
  • For charitable deduction purposes, each mile is valued at $0.03; the value of miles received may reduce the tax deductibility of your contribution.
  • Your AAdvantage® Mastercard® account must be open and in good standing to receive bonus miles.

Why This Offer Can Be Worth It

If you value AAdvantage® miles at a conservative 1.4–1.5 cents each, the 50 miles per dollar offer effectively gives you $0.70–$0.75 in travel value for every $1 donated — in addition to supporting cancer research. For those planning large redemptions, this can be an opportunity to top up your mileage balance quickly.

For example:

  • $100 donation = 5,000 miles (worth ~$70–$75 in flights)
  • $500 donation = 25,000 miles (worth ~$350–$375 in flights)
  • $1,000 donation = 50,000 miles (worth ~$700–$750 in flights)

Final Thoughts

The American Airlines × Stand Up To Cancer campaign is a win-win: you support groundbreaking cancer research and earn AAdvantage® miles at one of the most generous rates offered all year. But if you’re aiming for the 50 miles per dollar offer, act fast — the $3M donation cap is often met well before the September 30 deadline.
