Attention travelers! If you’ve been considering signing up for TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or other Trusted Traveler Programs, now is the time to act. In just a few days—less than 8, to be exact—the fees for these programs will increase for the first time in over 15 years. Here’s everything you need to know before prices go up.

What’s Changing?

Starting soon, the price for both TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, along with other trusted traveler programs, will rise. Here are the updated prices:

  • TSA PreCheck: Increasing from $77.95 to $85 for a 5-year membership.
  • Global Entry: Jumping from $100 to $120 for a 5-year membership.
  • Other Trusted Traveler Programs: Programs such as NEXUS and SENTRI will also see similar price adjustments.

What are TSA PreCheck and Global Entry?

  • TSA PreCheck: This program allows travelers to skip standard security lines at U.S. airports and access expedited screening lanes. No need to remove your shoes, laptops, or liquids during the screening process—making the entire experience faster and more convenient. If you fly domestically often, TSA PreCheck can save you a significant amount of time at airport security.
  • Global Entry: For international travelers, Global Entry is the ultimate fast-pass. It includes all the benefits of TSA PreCheck, but it also allows expedited U.S. Customs screening when re-entering the country after international travel. Instead of waiting in long customs lines, you can use an automated kiosk to complete your re-entry process in minutes.

Why Choose Global Entry Over TSA PreCheck?

Global Entry is the better deal for those who travel internationally a few times a year. Since Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck, you get two programs for a slightly higher price—$100 for Global Entry vs. $78 for TSA PreCheck. That slight difference can make a significant impact if you frequently fly domestically and abroad.

Why Should You Apply Now?

This is the first price increase for these programs in over 15 years, making it a great time to lock in the current lower rates before they go up. Whether you’re renewing or applying for the first time, doing so before the price hikes will save you money and set you up with five years of stress-free, fast-tracked travel.

How to Get These Fees Covered for Free

If you have a premium travel card, you might already be able to get your TSA PreCheck or Global Entry fee covered. Many cards offer a statement credit to reimburse these application fees every four to five years. For example, some top-tier travel cards provide up to $120 in credits, covering the full cost of Global Entry. Other cards geared toward everyday travelers also include similar perks, making it easy to avoid paying the fee out-of-pocket.

With less than 8 days before the price increases take effect, there’s no better time to apply for or renew your TSA PreCheck or Global Entry membership. If you’re a frequent traveler, especially internationally, Global Entry is a no-brainer—it covers both TSA PreCheck and expedited customs screening, all for just a bit more than TSA PreCheck alone.
